Rylan Kleiter

#BetweenTheSheets with Rylan Kleiter
"Do you wanna play video games?"

The #TwineTime blog has developed a rich history of adding champions into the #TwineTimeFam. We have Grand Slam of Curling champions. We have Canadian junior curling championships. We have U-SPORT champions. We have world champions. We have Olympic champions. We have world junior champions. We have provincial and territorial champions. We have mixed doubles champions.

Well time to add another champion to the list folks, another World Junior Curling champion!

Welcome to the fam Rylan Kleiter.

But don't think the recent world championship win has gone to the young man's head folks. Sometimes you just want to kick back, text a buddy and ask "Do you wanna play video games?"

After a career best bronze medal win in his third straight appearance at the Canadian junior championships a few months ago, Kleiter was asked to join three-time Canadian champ Tyler Tardi and the #TardiParty at the world championships. The rest is history folks.

But the world championship win is not the only highlight of the year for Kleiter. What about winning three straight Saskatchewan junior provincial titles? What about receiving a special invite to participate in your first #gsoc event in front of home province fans? Or how about winning yet another Canadian Junior Football League title as a member of the dynasty Saskatoon Hilltops?

Yup that's right folks. We also have another dual sport athlete added to the fam as Kleiter is a proven winner on the ice and on the football field. You might think his walk-up song at his next #gsoc event should be DJ Khaled's "All I Do Is Win"? It won't be though....but listen to the interview to see which song is his pick.

Don't fall into the stereotype either. This is one smart dude. Currently enrolled at the University of Saskatchewan while being a dual sport athlete is no easy gig. Kleiter shares his thoughts on the fine line balancing act he goes through to find success in and out of the classroom. A hint, he doesn't just tell his prof's he is a "big deal" as I suggested he do next season.

We also discuss how to #growthesport as a leader of the #NextGen movement in Canada. And Kleiter offers a perhaps controversial opinion on relegation at the Brier/Scotties. Bring it back? Perhaps?!

But we also have some fun talking about gaming, long hair vs. short hair, what is up with the pants and is Kleiter the junior #MenOfCurling calendar front-runner invite for 2020? He might have to compete with another Sasky/#TwineTimeFam member though.

Without further adieu, lets welcome the newest member to the fam rock heads: Rylan Kleiter!

The #NextGen for the sport of curling is in good hands with guys like Rylan Kleiter leading the way. Plus I never thought I would spend a good 10 or 15 minutes of an interview just talking about pants with a dude. The things I learned about team fashion and team dynamics.

What say you rock heads: Rylan Kleiter vs. Catlin Schneider?! Do they look alike? A #MenOfCurling battle perhaps? Both dual sport athletes. Both Sask champions. Both have rocked the long hair and the short hair. Both #TwineTimeFam members. They do draw many similarities. But do they look alike as TSN's Bryan Mudryk discussed during the #CJCC2019 SF?

I can see it....although obviously Kleiter is the younger, newer and sleeker model of the two LOL (JK still love ya #Litterbox).

And for those fellow gamers out there listening to this interview, there was a small follow-up question post-interview:

#TwineTime: "Very important questions for you man. What is your gaming console of choice and what are your Top 3 games?"

#RylanKleiter: "Haha very important. PS4 and NHL, NFL and Fortnite."

TT: "Ugh of course fortnite."

RK: "Hahaha yes that's the hot one! I'm not playing it quite as much though."

Of course this conversation led us down a whole slide path to seeing fortnite celly's on the curling ice after big wins and trying to convince Kleiter to whip out some of those dance moves next season. How did he respond? Well lets just say he wasn't 100% against the idea....#StayTuned next season!

I want to thank Rylan Kleiter once again for sitting down with me and talking about a wide majority of topics. If you don't do so already you may want to toss a follow to Kleiter and his team on twitter and instagram. As the skipper mentioned, there may be some future twitter polls and fan engagement coming from the team next season. Picking the next team pant maybe?

Welcome to the #TwineTimeFam Rylan Kleiter!

Sidenote: I love this pic for a variety of reasons!
